Matcha – literally, “powdered tea” – is a special type of green tea: a precious, jewel-green powder that is whisked with hot water in a bowl to make a frothy beverage of the same name.

The powdered green tea has been in high demand recently in the United States as a drink.

Preparation of matcha is the focus of the Japanese tea ceremony and has a long association with Zen. Matcha is the only form of tea in which the whole leaf is consumed, and because it is made from top-quality leaves that are treated with great care, it delivers more of the healthful elements of green tea than other forms.

Health Benefits of Matcha

In addition to providing trace minerals and vitamins (A, B-complex, C, E, and K), matcha is high in antioxidant catechin polyphenols- linked to numerous health benefits from decreased CANCER risk to reducing CHOLESTEROL and blood pressure—and since you actually drink the ground leaves, you ingest more of the nutrients than with brewed leaf teas.

Matcha has a significant amount of dietary fiber and practically no calories.

CLEANSING– containS high levels of Chlorophyll which helps to remove heavy metals and toxins from the body.

CAN SUBSTITUTE COFFEE/MOOD ENHANCING,ENERGY BOOSTING-The amino acid L-Theanine combines with caffeine and causes our body to absorb it slowly for 3-6 hours of calm, sustainable alertness without the crash and side effects of highly sugared, over-caffeinated beverages found in stores.

WEIGHT LOSS– Consuming matcha green tea can increase thermogenesis (the body’s own rate of burning calories) from a normal 8%-10% of daily energy expenditure, to between 35% and 43% of daily energy expenditure. Of critical importance is the fact that none of the research subjects reported any side effects and no significant differences in heart rates were noticed.

How do you enjoy it– hot drink like any green tea, smoothie, ice creams, added to baking goodies, etc
